BEIJING.- A unique collection created by 23 contemporary Talavera artists from Puebla is being shown at the National Museum of Fine Arts in China (NAMOC) as part of a cultural Exchange between the two countries.

The show was put together by curator Jan Hendrix, who was in charge of selecting the pieces and artists that form the collection, which shows the great Mexican tradition of talavera and its new tendencies in its elaboration.

The contact between artists and authorities from the Asian country was achieved by the Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP), whose dean Pedro Angel Palou García nurtures exchanges with the Peoples Repunlic of China.

The show titled Alarca presents 51 pieces by 23 artists, who completely rewrite the rules of historic and tradicional Talavera from Puebla, with a new form to create it without losing the traditional ways.

Among the artists included are: Franco Aceves, Gerardo Ramos, Magali Lara, José Lazcarro, Germán Montalvo, Vicente Rojo, Betsabee Romero, Raymundo Sesma, Paloma Torres, Germán Venegas, Juan Soriano y Talavera de la Reyna.

The exhibit Alarca will be on view until August 20. The show is part of a tour including, architecture, prehispanic, modern art and talavera art.
