DUSSELDORF, GERMANY.- K21 Kunstsammlung im Ständehaus will present Juan Munoz - Rooms of My Mind, on view 14 October 2006 - 4 February 2007. The exhibition offers a through insight into the oeuvre of the Spanish sculptor Juan Munoz(1953-2001). During the 80's, he was one of the most important renovator in figurative and narrative sculpture.

Over 30 sculptures and installations, over 30 drawings, "Raincoat Drawings" and photographs and furthermore, 6 sound-based works will be on display in this exhibition. Some of the sculptures and installations fill entire rooms.

Examples of his "Floor Pieces"(installations on the extensive surfaces of patterned floors) and also individual sculptures and sculpture groups, i.e. the "Conversation Pieces", will be shown. Besides figurative works, the exhibition will present creations such as "Balconies" and "Banisters", which only indirectly evoke the presence of people in a room. Furthermore, drawings, photos and finally, sound-based works will be on display. These works exemplify Munoz's broad interest in the fascination of space and illusion.

The "Sound Pieces", which Munoz realized together with composers, authors and actors, make up a considerable part of the exhibition. They can be appreciated in the exhibition's audio library. Some of these acoustic or scenic works will be shown in Germany for the first time during the exhibition, in most cases with the interpreters of their first performances.

Juan Munoz Rooms of My Mind is part of the Quadriennale 06 Art City Düsseldorf. www.quadriennale-duesseldorf.de.
