MEXICO CITY.-President of Mexico Vicente Fox today inaugurated the Vasconcelos Library. The library will head the more the 7,100 public libraries in Mexico and will be connected to all of them through the Internet. The library has a collection of more than 2 million books. The government estimates having around 12,000 to 15,000 users per day, which would make it around 4.5 and 5.5 million users per year. The building has a space of 44,500 square meters in five levels. It has 700 computers and an online catalogue. President Fox also presented Eduardo Lizalde as the director of this library. The library started yesterday providing users with library cards. The building was designed by architect Alberto Kalach.
