RIVOLI.- Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art announces that Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, current Director of the museum, will retire from her post at the age of 66, after over twenty years of service at the museum, both as a Chief Curator and later Director.

Following the opening of the exhibition Artists in a Time of War in March 2023, in the second half of the year Christov-Bakargiev will complete the museum’s new Catalogue of Permanent Collections and will open a major exhibition dedicated to Michelangelo Pistoletto on the 1st November on the occasion of his 90th birthday, as well as following an interdisciplinary project on art and science that focuses on issues around green nuclear energy.

A newly appointed Director will assume the position effective January 1, 2024.

Since its opening in 1984, Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art, the first contemporary art museum in Italy, home to an important Arte Povera collection, has promoted art and culture as fundamental tools for understanding our era, stimulating the social and civil growth of the region in which it operates thanks to the participation of a local and international public. In addition to collecting and exhibiting works of art, the museum is a center for creativity, research, education and the development of culture especially in the field of contemporary art, by reflecting on the present through a dynamic relationship with the past.

This new exhibition of over 140 works by 30 artists presents more than 140 works by 39 artists who have experienced or are experiencing war. Their works express empathy and complexity, unease but also great humanity.
