St-art Becomes European Contemporary Art Fair |
|

|
STRASBOURG.-To celebrate its 10th birthday St-art is changing dates and becoming The European Contemporary Art Fair. It opens today and will close on November 28. On the occasion of its tenth birthday, St-art, with the support of the City of Strasbourg, will for the first time open its doors in the last weekend of November. The premier contemporary art fair in France outside Paris is underlining its European identity by honouring one European country each year. This year, St-art will bestow that honour on Germany.
Germany in the spotlight: This year, St-art is honouring modern and contemporary art from accross the Rhine and is inviting more than a dozen German galleries.
New date, new name, new logo: For its tenth birthday, St-art is changing dates and will open its doors during a period of considerable effervescence in Alsace, more conducive to buying. St-art will take place from 25 to 28 November.
This change goes hand in hand with another innovation. St-art is assuming a new visual identity and underlining its specifically European nature by adopting the new name of "European Contemporary Art Fair", a designation that suits it as it invites galleries from fifteen or so countries throughout Europe.
Galleries from 15 countries around the world: This year, St-art is inviting thirty new galleries to enhance the quality of the exhibition. As you walk along the aisles, you will recognise the major artistic movements of the last fifty years, a number of well known characters and some young artists who are well worth discovering. For its tenth birthday, St-art is encouraging one man shows. Art in glass will be one of the particular attractions of the exhibition, which at the present time is unique in Europe.
An enhanced publishing area: This year, St-art is bringing together ever more numerous publishers in an area devoted entirely to them. The general public will be able to discover the technique of etching thanks to the press that the Bucciali gallery is providing for exhibiting artists who wish to reproduce one of their works.
Renewed and improved quality: By attracting a good number of galleries, by encouraging the presentation of one man shows and budding young talent, St-art has very markedly improved the quality of the exhibition.
