CARDIFF, UK.-Bay Art Gallery presents Sense in Place. This new season for BayArt brings a wide and varied range of art to Cardiff that can be enjoyed and appreciated by all. The gallery’s avowed aim is to champion the best and most interesting examples of contemporary painting. Three exhibitions showcase the work of painters of different generations who all share a belief in the ability of painting to encompass and engage with the variability of human experience. All of them are immersed in the challenges and the pleasures of painting, its long history, its boundaries and conventions, its rigours and its possibilities. All attend to the specifics of the medium and to the fact of painting, both in the manipulation of the paint and through the act of looking, imagining and comprehending.

Finally the gallery is also keen to promote the importance and primacy of drawing within the visual arts, and is both pleased and excited to be hosting the Jerwood Drawing Prize. This is a significant exhibition open to artists from all over Britain and demonstrates the vitality and variability of contemporary drawing. This will be the first time that this competition will be shown in Wales.
