Partner Museums: News and Current Exhibitions Highlights
Tower of David Museum of the History of Jerusalem is located within the ancient walls of a citadel that guards the Jaffa Gate entrance to the Old City.
The museums $50 million Renewal and Conservation Project will, among other things, preserve and conserve the citadel and introduce new technologies that will present the history of Jerusalem in innovative ways. A separate project also underway is the construction of a Contemporary Art and Design Gallery, which will be the only contemporary art gallery in the Old City.
Design Museum Holon, housed in an iconic building by acclaimed architect Ron Arad, is Israels only museum exclusively dedicated to design.
The museums current exhibition, Overdose, is presented in the upper and lower galleries. Mimicking the structure of a house, installations within each gallery allude to a familiar domestic environment, and feature reinterpretations by artists and designers of 150 everyday objects all from the Galila Barzilaï-Hollander Collection.
Haifa Museum of Art is northern Israels leading contemporary art institution.
Its current exhibition, Adrian Paci: Still Voices, showcases the influential contemporary artist's video works from 1997 to 2021, which are frequently inspired by histories of displacement, his own and that of others. The works on view reflect the artists unique ability to focus on specific people and situations that convey universal concepts such as loss and the struggle to overcome it.
Tikotin Museum of Japanese Art holds one of the largest and most important collections of Japanese art outside Japan.
Among its current exhibitions, Pulling Faces features comic drawings (manga) that appeared in the Edo period, from the 17th through the mid-19th centuries. Reflecting humorous aspects from scenes of everyday life, the works on view serve as a connecting thread between Japans past and present.
