ROCKLAND, MAINE.- The Farnsworth Art Museum presents Alex Katz in Maine, on view through October 16, 2005. This exhibition surveys Katz's long association with the state of Maine through a selection of works spanning the years from 1958 through 2004. It serves as a focused retrospective as well as an in-depth look at his nearly fifty-year pursuit of painting in Maine, where he has spent summers since the lated 1940s when he attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and as he says, "found my subject matter and a reason to devote my life to painting." This exhibition will be accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue distributed worldwide by Charta Art Books.
