SAN ANTONIO, TX.- The City of San Antonios Department of Arts & Culture and Luminaria Artist Foundation today launched the Corona Arts Relief Program, which provides technical assistance and professional development support for individual artists during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As San Antonio, like several cities across the world, implements social distancing requirements to protect citizens by preventing community spread of COVID-19, many in the arts industry have lost revenue due to cancellations. The Corona Arts Relief Program, managed by Luminaria Artist Foundation and made possible through the Department of Arts & Cultures Technical Assistance program, offers up to $600 to individual artists residing in Bexar County for:
· Professional development training, arts education (not applicable to college tuition) from April 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020.
· Lost revenue as a result of performances and artistic activities cancelled during the National Emergency Declarations currently between March 13, 2020 and April 19, 2020.
The program covers professional development including in-person or distance education, apprenticeships, conferences, travel and travel-related expenses. Artists applying for professional development funds must include supporting documentation such as conference and training flyers or notices, invoices and/or receipts for fees and travel. Recipients of the Corona Arts Relief Program will be invited to share learned knowledge at a later date when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
Technical assistance applicable for funding includes accrued expenses for cancelled events, performances, and travel and travel-related expenses. Artists applying for lost revenue due to cancellations, must include supporting documentation for reimbursement including proof of an actual loss or a future loss due to a cancellation.
