Tenth Annual ARTWALK NY Kicks Off On Saturday

NEW YORK.- The Coalition for the Homeless announces its tenth annual ARTWALK NY, featuring four events in two days. ARTWALK NY will kick off on Saturday, November 20 with the event chair Peter Jennings hosting a morning interview of renowned LA-based artist and ARTWALK NY honoree Ed Ruscha. The interview is free and open to the public. Seating is on a first come, first served basis. This event will take place at 12 noon at The New School, Tischman Auditorium, 66 West 12th Street.

After the interview, a series of Artist Studio Tours will leave from The New School. This year’s five tours will be lead by Arnold L. Lehman, Director of the Brooklyn Museum; Anne Pasternak, President and Artistic Director of Creative Time, Inc.; David A. Ross, President of the Artist Pension Trust; Lowery Stokes Sims, Excutive Director of the Studio Museum in Harlem; and, Adam D. Weinberg, Alice Pratt Brown Director of the Whitney Museum of American Art. Participating artists include Elliot Arkin, Renée Cox, Tom Otterness, Peter Halley, Kehinde Wiley, Lyle Ashton Harris and Christo and Jeanne-Claude. Tours depart at 2:00pm. Tickets $125. Advance purchase is highly recommended. Tickets will be sold at Tishman Auditorium on the day of the event if available.

Saturday’s events will conclude with a Party and Silent Auction at Sotheby’s with over 140 artworks. Participating artists include Matthew Barney, Mark Dion, Andrea Fraser, Sol LeWitt, Dan McCarthy, Tracey Moffatt, Robert Rauschenberg, and Laurie Simmons. The Party begins at 7:00pm at Sotheby’s, 1334 York Avenue at 72nd Street. Party and Silent Auction tickets start at $100.

On Monday, November 22, a live auction and gala award dinner hosted by Peter Jennings and Lauren Hutton will also take place at Sotheby's and honor Ed Ruscha and Donald B. Marron, chairman of Lightyear Capital. The live auction will feature works by Richard Avedon, Louise Bourgeois, Ann Craven, Louise Fishman, Torben Giehler, Jenny Holzer, Roni Horn, Zhang Huan, Julian LaVerdiere, and Ed Ruscha. Dinner tickets start at $500.

All funds raised by ARTWALK NY will benefit the Coalition for the Homeless, the nation's oldest and most progressive advocacy and direct service organization. The Coalition works to promote effective, long-term solutions to the problem of modern homelessness through public education, litigation, organizing, and policy research.
