MADRID, SPAIN.- The Queen Sofía Museum presents "Isamu Noguchi: Sculptural Design," on view through August 26, 2002. This exhibition presents the work of Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988) as an outstanding example of an interdisciplinary and multicultural artistic approach. The uniqueness of Noguchi’s work lies in the combination of different artistic forms: he was successful as a sculptor, set and costume designer, ceramic artist, furniture and product designer and landscape architect. Time and again, he breached the confines of individual disciplines to create an oeuvre that is characterised by the mutual enrichment of divers genres. The exhibition design of this show was created by the internationally renowned theatre director Robert Wilson.
