NEW YORK, NY.- Christie’s New York announces the December 5 auction of Magnificent Jewels and the concurrent Jewels Online Auction from November 28 to December 7. The auction includes a notable selection of colored diamonds, colorless diamonds, and gemstones, along with important signed pieces by Suzanne Belperron, René Boivin, Bulgari, Cartier, Harry Winston, Tiffany & Co., and Van Cleef & Arpels. The sale will offer over 370 lots, with estimates ranging from $10,000 to $13,000,000. The auction is led by a sensational Fancy Vivid Blue Diamond Ring of 8.08 carats by Bulgari ($13,000,000-18,000,000). This superb stone may be counted among the finest blue diamonds ever to have come to market.

Among other top lots is a Fancy Intense Pink Heart-Shaped Diamond Pendant Necklace of 15.56 carats ($9,500,000-12,000,000) and an Art Déco Fancy Vivid Yellow Diamond Ring of 8.09 carats, by Gillot & Co. ($900,000-1,200,000). Complementing the selection of colored diamonds is a superb offering of colorless diamonds, led by a D Color Diamond Ring of 28.70 carats, VVS2 clarity, Type IIa, from The Estate of Lee Vandervelde, sold to benefit the Children’s Hospital and Children’s Institute, Los Angeles ($1,500,000-2,500,000) and an Old European-cut Diamond Ring of 15.19 carats, D color, Internally Flawless, Type IIa ($1,500,000-1,800,000).

Also featured are The Foxfire Diamond Earrings, a matched pair totaling 77.71 carats, originating from the Foxfire, the largest known gem quality rough diamond ever mined in North America ($1,000,000-3,000,000). After being exhibited alongside the Hope Diamond at the Smithsonian, the uncut stone returned to New York to commence its transformation into this exceptional piece of jewelry. Included with the lot is an exclusive trip to the Diavik Diamond Mine, located in Canada’s Northwest Territories, where this landmark stone was discovered in 2015.

The December sale offers an extensive selection of signed jewels from the most prestigious houses spanning vintage through contemporary. Notably highlighting the vintage selection is a Diamond ‘Tube’ Bracelet, by Suzanne Belperron ($200,000-300,000). Unidentified for many years, the bracelet was recently rediscovered as the significant piece that launched the new Belperron and Herz jewelry partnership in 1948. Among other vintage highlights are important Art Déco pieces by Cartier, a Coral, Enamel and Diamond Strawberry Bracelet, by Donald Claflin for Tiffany & Co. ($100,000-150,000), and an Enamel Gold and Diamond ‘Beribboned Heart’ Bangle Bracelet by René Boivin, formerly from the Collection of Andy Warhol, originally commissioned in 1939 by Ronald Balcom for his wife, Millicent Rogers ($100,000-150,000).

Featured contemporary pieces include Diamond and Titanium Earrings, by Etcetera ($300,000-500,000) and Colombian Emerald, Pearl and Diamond Earrings, by Bhagat ($150,000-250,000).

Private collections within the sale offer significant signed pieces by Fred, Harry Winston, and Van Cleef & Arpels, incorporating gemstones of the highest quality with fine design. Property from a Distinguished Collector features a Sapphire and Diamond Ring of 34.38 carats, by Harry Winston ($250,000-350,000), an Emerald, Diamond and Colored Diamond Set, by Harry Winston ($150,000-180,000), a Colombian Emerald, Diamond and Colored Diamond Flower Brooch, by Fred ($250,000-350,000), and a Cultured Pearl and Diamond Necklace, by Van Cleef & Arpels ($150,000-250,000). Additionally featured are important pieces from Property from the Collection of the Late Charlotte and Lennart Erickson, including an Emerald and Diamond Necklace, by Harry Winston ($700,000-1,000,000) and an Emerald and Diamond Ring of 25.44 carats, by Harry Winston ($350,000-550,000).
