NEW YORK, NY.- Carpenters Workshop Gallery | New York is presenting Fuse, Australian designer Charles Trevelyan’s solo exhibition, from September 13 through October 27, 2018. The exhibition marks the London-based designer’s first-ever US solo exhibition.

Fuse features five new works executed in resin and Hotavlje stone mined from Slovenia and a selection of twelve recent pieces never-before-exhibited in the US. While the pieces are conceived in Trevelyan’s London-based studio, they are created and finished by the designer at Carpenters Workshop Gallery’s Roissy workshop in France.

New Works These news works, three tables and two benches, reveal the designer’s ongoing interest in scientific and engineering inquiry. Developed via an iterative process of sculpted prototypes, these pieces explore Trevelyan’s interest in the seams and points of connection created when slabs of stone or resin meet. The indoor/outdoor Hotavlje stone benches are a study in cantilevered balance, smooth and curvilinear. The tables, rendered in wood and pastel coloured resin, are angled and geometric with interlocking triangles of varied sizes, topped with a perfect circle.

Bronze Other works on view, a series of side tables, human size floor lamps, and desks are executed in bronze with various patina technique and new finishes in white gold, which give them a muted wildness. Each piece boasts bold, elongated forms and expressive lines, reminiscent of trees and roots.
