BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA.- The Roy Lichtenstein exhibition that was scheduled to open March 20 has been canceled. Miguel Rivas, a spokesperson for the Buenos Aires Museum of Latin-American Art, stated, "The authorities in the United States were worried about the well-being of the works. When they saw the disturbances here they were concerned." The Roy Lichtenstein Foundation in New York has confirmed it informed the museum that iw would not send drawings, prints and sculptures to Argentina for the exhibition. The letter form the foundation stated, "We are anguished by the current state of affairs in Argentina ... these are extraordinary times and they oblige extraordinary responses." The letter was signed by Lichtenstein's widow Dorothy, head of the foundation.
