NEW YORK, NY.- Liz Lees and Meg Wendy, the organizers of The New York Ceramics & Glass Fair, have announced that they are cancelling their fair, which would have celebrated its 20th anniversary next January..

Liz Lees, who established the fair in 1999, with her late husband Bill Caskey, says that she and Meg did everything they could to keep the fair alive. "This was a truly hard decision for both of us to make. Shows have been difficult for everyone in our business for the last 10 or so years, and exhibiting at them is expensive. We are fully sympathetic to this because it is equally difficult and expensive from a management perspective."

Says Meg Wendy: "We are very sad about the closing of this show and did everything we could to keep it going. However, many of our historic dealers are at the point of retiring and there just isn't a big enough pool of other dealers to replace them."

The New York Ceramics & Glass Fair, the only fair of its kind, took place in late January during Americana Week. It was a beloved fair, which attracted collectors, interior designers and curators from the United States and abroad.

Leslie Ferrin, director of Ferrin Contemporary based in North Adams, Massachusetts, says: "The New York Ceramics & Glass Fair has been at the center of our gallery program for nearly twenty years. Liz and Meg provided the opportunity for us to come together with our artists, colleagues and passionate collectors and allowed them to connect the dots between the living artists and their historical precedents. "
