MANAMA.- This March sees
ArtBAB return to Bahrain to host galleries and artists from around the world embracing Bahrains cultural heritage as an intimate marketplace. Now in its third year, ArtBAB reinforces Bahrains position in the Gulf as a regional arts hub, inspiring entrepreneurship, art education and local skills development. Led by Fair Director Kaneka Subberwal, this edition of ArtBAB promises to exhibit eclectic contemporary art, while a central pavilion will showcase the best work of Bahraini artists.
The fair is a dynamic space for the exchange and discussion of ideas, providing support for smaller art communities and the art market as a whole. The programme of educational talks and panel discussions will run alongside a VIP programme, designed to introduce collectors to the art and culture of Bahrain alongside the opportunity to network and meet other like-minded collectors, museum directors, artists and curators.
ArtBAB 2018 will focus on Bahrains diverse multicultural history and the events and education programme will be framed by Bahrains connection to the sea and the collective sharing of knowledge.
The fair will also collaborate with not-for-profit organisations and, for the first time, the kids@artbab workshop will focus on developing skills and creating a foundation for Bahraini artists in the future.
Alongside the fair, ArtBAB continues its highly successful international Artist Development Programme which focuses on connecting the art of Bahrain to the global art community and vice versa. Launched at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2016, ArtBABs programme has since been to India and will continue with an event in Russia in 2018/9.
Fair and Programme Director, Kaneka Subberwal, comments, ArtBAB is unique in its approach. Our aim is to create a niche that connects the global art world to ours. Edition 3 will mark a new direction for the fair, encouraging and inviting all in Bahrain to be a part of the experience and learning.
