TOKYO.- Japans largest international art fair,
Art Fair Tokyo 2018 (to be held March 8 11, 2018) announces its venue layout. This year will have powerful art displays and even more large-scale booths than ever. Projects, a series of solo shows by up-and-coming galleries, will be free to enter in the lobby gallery. This layout will enable visitors to experience the present and future of Japans art market. Additionally, Art Market Tokyo is a Tokyo art and life media collaboration with Tokyo Girls Collection 2018 Spring/Summer in which TGC model Lovely will tour many of the art spots around Tokyo.
Collaboration with TGC Finalized
This year, Art Market Tokyo will feature TGC model representative Lovely visiting art spots and exploring the art that is all over Tokyo. This collaboration will enable art and fashion to interact and blend, portraying an ever-diversifying range of lifestyles and values.
153 Exhibitors at Galleries
The Galleries session has exhibitions that arent restricted by genre, with many things to see spread throughout the entire venue. From Raku Kichizaemon's tea bowl mastery, to Chinese top artist Xu Zhen, to surrealist leader Yamashita Kikuji, to Jomon pottery. It's all in one venue, for a unique art fair like none other. Antique art is boosted this year, with the recently spotlighted transcendental art of the Meiji era, and Heian period Buddha statues which can't often be found for sale. In contemporary art, the increased booth size will allow for larger and more powerful works to be exhibited. The exhibition area of Galleries has been increased by 20% for AFT 2018. Come experience the power of Japanese aesthetics and Asian aesthetics.
Projects
The Projects section will undergo a transformation this year, moving from the 2nd basement floor Hall E to the lobby floor. Each gallery will showcase a single artist, with the same booth size allotted to each one. The galleries have all chosen acclaimed artists, in a vast range of genres, from butoh photography and abstract art, to contemporary netsuke and realistic painting. Come experience the cutting edge with Japan's up-and-coming galleries.
AFT 2018 will be made up of three areas
AFT 2018 will be made up of three areas: the lobby gallery, the access area, and the gallery area. The lobby gallery will be free to enter. This area will be a place to encounter new art endeavors and possibilities. This year, eleven galleries will display solo shows in the lobby gallery in Projects. The access area will feature art media booths from both Japan and abroad, a lounge, and more. It will be an area where visitors can access the latest art information. The gallery area will feature 153 exhibitors with innovative exhibits.
