Art Studios Tour Enriching California’s Holdings

SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA.- Santa Barbara is recognized nationally and internationally as a major arts destination.  Art Studios Tour is a prime example of the high quality and unique Fine Art to be viewed and acquired here. Art lovers and collectors are invited to meet ten highly individual stars of the rich Santa Barbara art scene in their working studios.

Judi Doernberg, Sally Hamilton, Wayne J. Hoffman, Jevine Karys, Cree Mann, Judy Nienow, Warner Nienow, Rob Robinson, and Peter Worsley, all in Santa Barbara, and William K. Foster in Montecito.

Their great variety of mediums include oil, watercolor, acrylic, gouache, pastels, collage and assemblage.  The subjects of these fascinating artists are equally diverse: figurative, abstract, representational, landscape, streetscape, architectural, florals, animals, plein air, and still life.  The artists_ studios are as imaginative and varied as their art.

This is art to feed the soul, for unique gifts, and to enhance homes, offices, and public spaces.  Collectors, art lovers and gift givers will have the advantage of purchasing Fine Art at studio prices without the additional gallery fees, and may enjoy in one adventurous beautiful weekend visiting all these artists who are in close proximity within easy driving distance.

Peter Worsley, Coordinator of Art Studios Tour, is showing warm, empathetic figurative art, delightfully capturing people’s interactions with subtlety and humor, in natural and urban settings both beautiful and gritty.  Walk through a private gallery to his studio with sunny garden and ocean views.

Judi Doernberg creates complex collage, vivid abstract paintings, and whimsical, imaginative assemblage.  One corner of her rustic Mission Canyon studio is devoted to a new gallery of three dimensional "portraits" on hardwood planks, including "Richard Gere", "It’s the Fuller Brush Man!", and "Bad Hair Day".William K. Foster’s 1927 home and studio are in Montecito_s special

Hedgerow area.  His art is international: oils and pastels from San Francisco to Santa Barbara, Northern CA to Southern France, Paris to Florence, Languedoc to London, Tuscany to Texas.

Sally Hamilton’s studio is in a Japanese style home overlooking the city.  She is President of Santa Barbara Art Association, well-known as an arts leader, and noted for her landscape, figure, and still life paintings in pastels, oils, and acrylics.

Wayne J. Hoffman, distinguished artist and teacher, designed and built his own studio to meet his needs for paintings on canvas, collage and assemblage, and evocative abstract works usually inspired by musical or historical themes.

Jevine Karys paints vibrant, light filled transparent watercolors:  florals, animals, vintage buildings, and landscapes.  Her studio in downtown Santa Barbara is in a charming one hundred year old Victorian farmhouse.

Cree Mann creates exquisite watercolors of unique local scenes, landscapes and florals, that are light and bright and full of color.  Her studio is perched high in Santa Barbara’s Bel-Air Knolls with expansive mountain views.

In the tradition of Dali, Bosch and Kahlo, Judy Nienow’s oils on canvas are hauntingly original pictorial narratives to stir the psyche.  Galleries in New York City and France display these and her paintings of colorful architecture.

Warner Nienow also shows his work in New York City and France.  His precision oils on canvas are accomplished and luminous urban landscapes, and day and nightscenes in Old Masters style.  The Nienows_ studios are in a 1920’s Spanish cottage.Rob Robinson is showing his plein air oil paintings of Santa Barbara, CA, Mexico, and the West in his unique Andalusian studio and home located on Santa Barbara’s beautiful Riviera.
