NEW YORK, NY.- The Whitney Museum of American Art announced Claes Oldenburg: Drawn from Life, a focused exhibition celebrating the vibrant drawing practice of Claes Oldenburg, one of the most inventive and influential artists of the twentieth century. Drawn from Life recommences a biannual exhibition rotation in the Museum’s 7th floor galleries that will offer focused presentations of works in the collection. The exhibition showcases Oldenburg’s drawings from the 1960s, highlighting his playful, subversive reimaginings of the objects and spaces of everyday American life. While Oldenburg is best known for his monumental sculptures of familiar objects, sculptures that often surprise viewers with their unexpected textures and outsized proportions, this exhibition traces the origins of his sculptural imagination back to his works on paper. Oldenburg’s drawing practice was essential to his creative process, serving as a testing ground for ideas that would eventually transform the visual lan ... More

The portfolios made over a period of 14 years which are increasingly rare to see in their complete form, is each a powerful demonstration of how markedly original Albers was in his understanding of colour and line. GSTAAD.- Gagosian is presenting THE MOUNTAIN, an exhibition of new works by Sterling Ruby. In dialogue with the Romantic tradition of the sublime, Ruby explores themes of germination, birth, growth, and decay, drawing upon the physical and metaphysical cycles of life. Intimately rooted in the artist’s time in California’s Eastern Sierras, these sculptures and paintings are deeply attuned to environmental transformation. On view from July 11 through September 7, the presentation extends beyond the gallery’s walls, with works installed at locations throughout the historic alpine town of Gstaad. For the past two years the snowfall has been epic. At the summit of the mountain’s 11,059-foot peak, this season’s snowfall reached a base depth of 154 inches. Because of this, the surrounding lakes have been full of water, the spring ... More

LONDON.- Vardaxoglou presents a solo exhibition with British artist Savannah Harris (b. 1999), focusing on a selection of paintings on paper completed over the past 3 years. Exhibited for the first time, these works are all intimately sized and investigate the movement of land and its subtle formations. The paintings refer to Harris’s Caribbean and Cuban heritage, whilst engaging with the natural world around her studio in Wimbledon, London. Savannah Harris makes visible the process of light rendering matter into something tangible. The paintings capture a transitional play of texture and light, revealing the way it can find its way into a darkly lit space, a cove or a densely overgrown wood to expose undiscovered topography. The artist rediscovers the rhythm and texture of landscape through her application of paint. Her mark making is an imaginative reenactment of natural environments, ... More

Wilding Cran Gallery opens a solo exhibition of new and recent works by Gary Lang   Kunsthaus Bregenz presents KUB Project 2025: Michael Armitage, Maria Lassnig, and Chelenge Van Rampelberg   A sonic wave hits Namur: The 14th edition of KIKK Festival lands this October with "Boom boom tchak"

Gary Lang, CS GRNLTE, 2025, Acrylic on panel, 31 x 31 inches, 78.7 x 78.7 cm.

LOS ANGELES, CA.- Wilding Cran Gallery presents Squares, a solo exhibition of new and recent works by acclaimed California-based painter, Gary Lang. Best known for his concentric circles, Lang creates radiant, geometric paintings that pulse with color and vibrational energy. Squares brings together a suite of square format paintings, each an exploration of color, repetition, and visual resonance, exhibited for the first time in Los Angeles. Lang’s square paintings glow from within and ripple outward in luminous sequences. Painted in carefully measured bands that shift in tone, density, and temperature, the canvases create a rhythmic, optical experience. The colors either blend softly from one into the next or jolt from hot to cold, dark to bright, keeping the eye in constant motion. Whether softly meditative or sharply electric, the pieces share a hypnotic intensity that draws the viewer inward. ... More

BREGENZ.- In summer 2025, Kunsthaus Bregenz is presenting an extraordinary artistic dialogue: on view in the foyer will be works by the British Kenyan painter Michael Armitage; the late Austrian painter, graphic artist, and filmmaker Maria Lassnig; and the Kenyan artist Chelenge Van Rampelberg. The exhibition grew out of a conversation with Michael Armitage during preparations for his KUB exhibition in 2023. Armitage spoke about Maria Lassnig, whom he considers one of the most important painters of all time and a person who has had a lasting influence on him. Armitage cites his long-time mentor, teacher, and friend, the artist Chelenge Van Rampelberg, as another important influence. Now, in the summer of 2025, these three voices will engage in a multilayered dialogue at Kunsthaus Bregenz. The works were selected by Armitage himself. Chelenge Van Rampelberg ... More

THE HAGUE.- Which traumatic events from the past do we commemorate as a society? And how does a community build a monument for an act of genocide that some would prefer to have wiped from our memories? On 11 July 2025 it was exactly 30 years since the genocide in Srebrenica took place. In Cups of Memory architect Arna Mačkić (Studio L A) and artist Aida Šehović (ŠTO TE NEMA), both survivors of the Bosnian War (1992-1995), present a new interpretation of remembrance, in which art, collective memory and shared rituals not only reflect on the past, but confront its long-term consequences that continue to shape our present. A horrific tragedy unfolded in the area of Srebrenica in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 11 July 1995, when the Bosnian-Serb Army murdered more than 8,372 Muslim men and boys. The UN Dutchbat battalion, which was charged with protecting them, did ... More

Brooklin A. Soumahoro, Window, Orn/Prl.1.25, 2025. Oil on canvas, 10 x 10 inches (25.5 x 25.5 cm.)

LOS ANGELES, CA.- François Ghebaly New York presents Fifteen Measures, Brooklin Soumahoro’s newest exhibition at the gallery’s Lower East Side location. Los Angeles-based painter Brooklin A. Soumahoro treats color theory as both careful science and intuitive process. He achieves extraordinary technical precision in his work, incorporating rigorous chromatic and geometric study while maintaining the sensitivity of painterly elements like visible brushwork and contrastive underlayers. His process involves translating sonic frequencies, musical rhythms, and other inspirations into compositions that fuse intricate patterning with vibrant, transportative color fields. Drawing from sources like landscape and observational study, material cultures, and wider 20th century art histories, Soumahoro transforms his research into luminous painted surfaces that integrate scores of carefully calibrated color relationships. ... Centro Cultural Bienal das Amazônias presents second edition Verde-Distância
BELEM.- The 2nd Bienal das Amazônias (2BDA) unfolds through the idea of (distance-green), a poetic inflection inspired by the writings of Benedicto Monteiro (1924–2008), writer from Pará. His work emerges from the Amazon as a terrain of intensities shaped by crossings, suspensions, displacements, and reverberations. Verde-Distância gestures toward a spatial-temporal condition formed not by separation, but by relation: a form of distance that thickens perception and invites attunement across time, matter, and scale. This edition embraces pan-Amazonian territories and their intertwined histories with the Caribbean as a space of circulation: of rivers, oceans, forests, urban centers and rural towns, Caribbean soundwaves and Andean ice, mineral time, and collective breath. Taking place in Belém Verde-Distância, brings together a wide range of artistic practices engaged with three ... More

MELBOURNE.- Tolarno Galleries announced representation of Djurrayun Murrinyina.
