Ethan Cohen Gallery opens a major retrospective surveying six decades of work by Clark V. Fox

NEW YORK, NY.- Ethan Cohen Gallery is pleased to present Beyond Obedience, a major solo exhibition surveying nearly six decades of work by Clark V. Fox (born 1946) at the gallery's 251 W 19th Street location in Chelsea. Clark Fox is an American artist whose singular practice defies conventional distinctions between abstraction, Pop art, political painting, and cultural critique. Clark Fox is an artist's artist if there ever was one. At almost 80, his name is known and admired among an interesting group of his elders and peers. As a very young painter, he both emulated and influenced Washington D.C. artists such as Thomas Downing, Gene Davis, Jacob Kainen, and Sam Gilliam. They influenced Clark's early incarnation as a Washington Color School painter. Living his entire life between D.C. and New York, by 1970 the artist had moved from abstract to representational painting. His important series of "architectural" paintings began with his inspiration fr ... More

Rob Strati finds new possibilities in the broken pieces of the past   Chocolate before Columbus: Ancient trade routes from the Maya world to the Mississippi Valley   Jack B. Yeats masterpieces headline Whyte's November auction in Dublin

Rob Strati, Fragmented in Green with Stag and Ship, 2024. 29 x 24 2.5.

MIAMI, FLA.- At Art Miami 2026, the artist's acclaimed Fragmented series transforms discarded porcelain into intricate imagined worlds, while his smaller-scale works and Service series reveal the breadth of his practice. Rob Strati transforms fragments of antique and vintage porcelain into intricate works of art, drawing beyond the original designs to create scenes that seem to spill off the plate and onto the page. Ships, figures, animals, landscapes and surreal details emerge from the patterns and edges of the broken china, turning what might otherwise be discarded into something unexpected. Through his acclaimed Fragmented series, Strati blurs the line between sculpture, drawing and storytelling. The porcelain isn't repaired or concealed. Its cracks, edges and missing pieces become essential to the finished work, with the original decorative patterns serving as the starting point for an entirely new composition. ... More

Elaborately decorated cylinder featuring a painted narrative scene.

By John Buxton / ArtTrak

DALLAS, TX.- Long before Columbus, extensive Indigenous trade networks connected the Maya civilizations of Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico with regions far to the north, including the American Southwest and the Mississippi Valley. These networks carried obsidian, turquoise, copper, marine shells, tropical birds, and ceremonial goods across thousands of miles. Paquimé (Casas Grandes), in Chihuahua, Mexico, was an important northern exchange center, linking communities of northern Mexico with the American Southwest. Farther east, the great Mississippian centers of Cahokia and Etowah participated in equally sophisticated commercial networks. Recent archaeological discoveries suggest that cacao, the tropical plant from which chocolate is made, reached both the Southwest and the southeastern United States ... More

His maternal grandfather in Sligo ran cargo boats back and forth to Liverpool, on which, at the end of a holiday, the family started their way back to the house in London. Jack, who stayed behind in his formative years, and went to school in Sligo, spent every spare moment on the quays, following the sailors into their homes to hear the gossip. Here, a young bright face under a sailor's cap appears at the ... More

Sherié Franssen, Unforgettable, 2026. Oil on canvas, 81 x 77.5 inches.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA.- Dolby Chadwick Gallery announced Everything We Carry, an exhibition of new paintings by Sherié Franssen. There is something wonderfully unreliable about memory. A small detail can remain astonishingly clear while everything around it softens. A color, a shape, a feeling can return without warning, sometimes more vivid than the original moment itself. Sherié Franssen’s newest body of work seems to inhabit this space, where impressions gather, shift and resurface, and where what we see is shaped as much by what we bring to it as by what is actually there. These paintings are abundant. Color moves freely across the canvases, sometimes in broad sweeps and elsewhere in quick, concentrated marks. Forms overlap, collide and emerge through layers of paint, occasionally arriving at something that feels strangely familiar before slipping away again. Franssen has deliberately removed the hints of the figure that have appeared in previous bodies of work, allowing ... More

Katherine Bowling, The Last Tree, 2025, Oil on spackle on wood panel, 48 x 34 inches.

NEW YORK, NY.- Winston Wächter Fine Art is presenting Forecast, a new series of works by Katherine Bowling. In her second solo exhibition with the gallery, Bowling continues her practice of meditative and luminous paintings. In her newest body of work, each piece suggests habitation and memory, yet often feel strangely distant, like structures encountered in a dream. Bowling’s paintings are inspired by the tradition of the Hudson River School of the 19th century. Utilizing quiet symbolism, Bowling infuses a Romanticist aesthetic into the details of each scene, with the paintings in this series moving between the observed landscape and an interior one. Fields, trees, fences, roads, and solitary houses create places that feel both familiar and slightly elusive. For Bowling, many of these works are inspired by the Hudson Valley area where she lives and memories of her childhood growing up in Virginia. Houses appear quietly within these landscapes, some painted and some collaged, partially hidden b ... More

Baron de Reuter & Gordon Bennett collection hits the art market   Christie's Paris announces major design sale celebrating a century of bronze artistry   Tina Kim Gallery retrospective highlights Kim Tschang-Yeul's 'Recurrence' series and waterdrop motif

Auguste Rodin (1840–1917), The Thinker, Porte-size version known as the “Medium Model,” 1919, bronze sculpture, signed “A. Rodin,” foundry mark “ALEXIS. RUDIER / FONDEUR. PARIS,” H. 71.6 cm.

GENEVA.- Piguet is unveiling at auction, for the first time, an exceptional collection from the families of the Barons de Reuter and James Gordon Bennett Jr., two names inextricably linked to the history of the international press. Preserved by their descendants for more than a century, works of art, fine jewellery, silverware and precious historical records tell the story of these families, who shaped European history in the late 19th and 20th centuries. Among the major discoveries are two sculptures by Auguste Rodin, including a cast of his iconic Thinker (est. CHF 4 to 7 million, USD 4.9 to 8.6 million, EUR 4.3 to 7.6 million, GBP 3.6 to 6.3 million), as well as an exceptional, unique and previously unseen imperial piece by the house of Fabergé. François-Xavier Lalanne, Le Grand Oiseau de Peter Branché Estimate:€1,000,000 - 1,500,000.

PARIS.- On 24 November, Christie's Paris will bring together approximately 180 works tracing a century of decorative arts and design. From Alberto and Diego Giacometti to Ingrid Donat and Maarten Baas, by way of François-Xavier and Claude Lalanne, the sale places bronze firmly in the spotlight. By turns decorative, sculptural and functional, bronze remained throughout the twentieth century a remarkable medium for experimentation. Spanning from the Belle Époque to contemporary creation, the works assembled demonstrate the ability of leading creators to continually reinvent this material: sculpture transformed into functional objects by the Giacomettis, the poetic menagerie of the Lalannes, and bronze used as an architectural medium by Ingrid Donat and Maarten Baas. A highlight of the sale, François-Xavier Lalanne's Grand Oiseau de Peter Branché is estimated at €1,000,000-1,500,000. This spectacular work alone encapsulates the unique dialogue the artist maintained with the animal world. Fro ... More

Kim Tschang-Yeul, Recurrence, 2012. Acrylic and oil on canvas, 63 3/8 x 51 1/8 in. 161 x 130 cm. Framed: 65 1/4 x 52 1/8 x 2 in. 165.7 x 132.4 x 5.1 cm.

NEW YORK, NY.- Tina Kim Gallery presents Kim Tschang-Yeul: Recurrence, the gallery's third solo exhibition of the Korean émigré painter who devoted five decades of his career to the sustained exploration of luminous, hyperrealistic waterdrops. Focusing on works from the 1980s through the 2010s, the exhibition traces the evolution of Kim’s mature practice as he embraced a more tactile materiality, experimented with varied surfaces and grounds, and began working on a larger scale. At its center is his Recurrence series, which emerged in the mid-1980s, shown alongside significant Waterdrop paintings from across these decades. Together, the works demonstrate the remarkable range Kim drew from a single motif, continually pushing its formal and conceptual possibilities. The waterdrop motif emerged from a chance encounter with the material itself. While working in a makeshift studio outside Paris, Kim splashed water onto the back ... More

Ouattara Watts blends textiles, global iconography, and jazz improvisation in new exhibition at Karma   Albert Uderzo 'Astérix' pages combine for $579,312 to lead Heritage's $3.1 million International Comic Art auction   MCA Australia and Dia Art Foundation to open a major two-part exhibition of work by d harding in early 2027

Ouattara Watts, On the Road, 2026. Mixed media on canvas, 111¾ × 140 in.

NEW YORK, NY.- Musical notes, eyes, nodes, arrows, numerals, alien vessels, African masks, and modernist sculpture—these are among the vast range of symbols that recur throughout Ouattara Watts’s paintings. His densely layered compositions reflect his omnivorous approach to the histories of painting and visual expression more broadly: a single canvas by the artist, its surface composed of textiles and other materials, may shift between gestural abstraction, color fields, and figuration. Watts’s attention to materiality dates to 1977, when he arrived in Paris to study art from Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire and began painting on tarpaulin. By the time he moved to New York City in 1988, he was already incorporating found objects and fabrics into his compositions. Across New Paintings, Watts sets his enigmatic signs among patterned fabric, papier-mâché relief, and paint-spattered floor cloths, holding the graphic and the gestural in tension. Watts often finds the beginnings of ... More
