ROME.- Mr. Umberto Croppi, Councilor to the Cultural Policies and Communication of the Municipality or Rome, Mr. Roberto Casiraghi, Director of ROMA - The Road to Contemporary Art and Mr. Achille Bonito Oliva, curator of the third edition of exhibition Cose mai viste (Things You Never Saw), are presenting the international fair ROMA - The Road to Contemporary Art In the new unique venue of Macro Testaccio, which is hosting in the space of over 8,000 square meters, articulated in three pavilions – two of the MACRO Future and the Pelanda - 67 Italian and foreign galleries, selected by the Advisory Committee of the Fair, formed by twenty-two international experts: gallery directors, collectors and art historians. Beside the Main Section of the Fair, which includes 50 galleries, Start up is reserved to 17 emerging galleries, born after 2006, which shall present a maximum of three artists each. Fuori misura (Out of Range) is the third edition, arranged in “open air”: the wide spaces outside the pavilions are hosting 18 works of large dimensions – installations, sculptures, video projections, and photographs – developed by either famous or emerging artists, represented by the exhibition galleries.

4 riviste x 4 serate is continuing at Macro Testaccio up to May 29th (from 11 p.m. to 2.00 a.m.): on May 27th with Talent Prize Night (live art performance+Dj set) by Inside Art, on May 28th with Timeforcros-culturalvisions (Video selection/Synchrofilm/Dj/vJ set) by DROME Magazine and on May 29th with All you need is wall (Poster Art by Fefè Project/ Photo set by Peppe Tortora/Radio Fefè dj set by Filippo Manni) by Fefè Magazine.

Eat with Art in the Vip lounge includes three other convivial appointments devised by Arabeschi di latte (Milk arabesques) – a feminine collective dedicated to the experimentation of new food concepts – and developed by three multi-star chefs, namely: Rosanna Marziale on May 28th, Nadia Moroni on May 29th and Cristina Bowerman on May 30th, who will present their creations on the theme “Io non butto via niente” (I do not throw anything away).

A 4-day focus shall be dedicated to the Art Awards in Italy, with a program of meetings titled Il Nuovo Mecenatismo (The New Patronage), which is presenting – in the Verba Volant section, reflections and case histories of those Italian subjects which create opportunities for the youths who want to and can emerge. The initiative, born from an idea of Daniela Ubaldi, author of Young Blood – the first annual which systematized and organized the variety of the initiatives in the field of creativity and art – and Adriana Polveroni, is promoted by the Roma Contemporary Association in cooperation with Il Sole 24 Ore and it is the first time that such extensive, complete attention is dedicated to the theme of Awards (in their different forms, namely: money, purchases, residencies) within a Fair as original, innovative expression of New Patronage. Verba Manent is proposing the visitors of the Fair eight guided visits, which will be developed from May 27th through 30th from 5.00 to 7.00 p.m., at the discovery of the world of contemporary art observed not only from the point of view of critics and journalists, but also of actors, filmmakers, politicians, architects and chefs. These are the personalities who will lead the visits during the different days: Alessandro Haber and Fausto Bertinotti on May 27th; Nicola Spinosa and Piero Maccarinelli on May 28th; Daniela Ferretti and Massimiliano Tonelli on May 29th; Ermete Realacci and Massimo Bottura, chef on May 30th.

The live broadcasting of ROMA. RADIO. ART. FAIR., the first web radio platform of a contemporary art fair and multi-media network of multidisciplinary experimentation, shall follow the activities of all the days up to May 30th. The programming of ROMA. RADIO. ART. FAIR, by Ilari Valbonesi, includes a rich program dedicated to the visual and sound arts in web streaming 24 hours a day on the www.romaradioartfair.it website: concerts and program events, interviews to artists, gallery and museum directors, author audio guides, music selections and multiform sound landscapes. Furthermore, ROMA. RADIO. ART. FAIR. is curating the section of live events of the fair in the early evenings, namely: Displaying/Displaced, which hosts the Paris - Dubai – Roma international exhibition. The Road to VideoʼAppart Metropolart in cooperation with Metropolart Cities & Artists, special events from the Institutes and Academies, sound performances and concerts of worldwide known artists for the acoustic and electronic research.

A new initiative developed in cooperation with 9 foreign Academies and Cultural Institutes in Rome, which are presenting international shows and exhibitions of artists of the different countries, organized in their own seats or in other areas of the Capital in order to offer and actual journey through the most updated artistic production in the different areas of the world. The initiative shall involve: the American Academy, the Real Academia de España, IILA Istituto Italo-Latino Americano, the Istituto Polacco, the Goethe Institut, the Istituto Svizzero di Roma, the Accademia di Romania, the Istituto Giapponese di Cultura and Forum Austriaco di Cultura. Again on May 25th three exhibitions coordinated by the Fair were inaugurated at the Monumental Complex of Santo Spirito in Sassia, namely: the third edition of Cose Mai Viste (Things You Never saw), curated by Achille Bonito Oliva, which investigates and underlines the importance of artwork collectorship and that will see as protagonists this year – after the gallery directorsʼ and artistsʼ collections – the works of five private collections, namely: Berlingieri, Dalle Nogare, Di Maggio, La Gaia, Morra Greco; the second edition of the Accademia delle Accademie (Academy of the Academies), curated by Shara Wasserman, which presents the scholarship artists hosted in Rome by the aforementioned prestigious cultural institutions; SPIRITO, curated by Valentina Ciarallo and Pier Paolo Pancotto, dedicated to Mat Collishawʼs installation Outcasts, organised in the Chiostro del Commendatore; Piazza dʼArte (Art Square) curated by Eduardo Cicelyn and with the contribution of the Regional Council of Campania, twenty photographs by Peppe Avallone for an exhibition which celebrates the fifteen anniversary of installations developed for Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples: a pathway which started in 1995 with Mimmo Paladinoʼs Montagna di sale (Salt Mountain) and culminated – in 2009 – with Carsten Nicolai's Pionier II at the House of Architecture-Roman Aquarium, in cooperation with the House of Architecture.
