Everson Museum of Art to Add Syracuse China to Permanent Collection
For the past 138 years, Syracuse China has played a significant role in both the Syracuse community and the ceramic industry.

SYRACUSE, NY.- The Everson Museum of Art is proud to announce a major gift from the Syracuse China Corp., consisting of examples of china dating back to the mid 19th century, will be joining its permanent collection. This gift consists of 275 pieces of ceramics representing many eras and styles.

For the past 138 years, Syracuse China has played a significant role in both the Syracuse community and the ceramic industry. The archived historical collection of Syracuse China has been a treasured part of the company and a source of pride to its employees through the years. The collection not only provides an extraordinary account of the history of the company but also that of Central New York , our country and ceramics in general. The Everson is proud to receive a portion of this significant collection.

”Syracuse China, its employees and products have been great ambassadors for Syracuse, Onondaga County and Central New York over the years as the collection depicts,” said Ken Boerger, Vice President and Treasurer, Libbey Inc. “It is our hope that the entire community can continue to benefit from this history going forward. It is with great pride that we offer a portion of this collection to the Everson Museum , so that a part of Syracuse China always remains in Syracuse .”

A selection from the Syracuse China collection will be on view in late August at the Everson. In addition, the entire collection will be accessible in on the Everson’s website, everson.org, later this year.
