Yahoo! gave us this first place, which fortunately lasted more than a year and always sounded to us as worth mentioning by Ripley.

Yahoo! puts Artdaily in the 16th place from a total of 488 million sites, more than honorable.

Google has also distinguished us in its classifications, placing us in the top of its lists, sharing this place with two other sites as the green color shows.

"BBC recommended" ArtDaily and also distinguish us with the comment "Fantastic daily art Newspaper". Could we ask for more? We are very proud of this!

USA TODAY stated in its Hot Sites, "If Picasso is your passion, if El Greco sends your heart spiraling into ecstasy, you'll want to cast a Web browser over artdaily.com".

Geniusfind.com News and Media - Arts - is a site that has dedicated a comment to Artdaily. Eulogistic, the editor even took care of working our logo. Thanks!

Artdaily: Notes on a story
The Artdaily history is, in a way, very simple:

ArtDaily was born, truly, for the love of art, with the intention of covering a space that nobody had filled and this is why we published what is "The First Art Newspaper on the Net".

Our first tryouts began in the summer of ´96 and is now about to fulfill its ninth year.

Last year we created a site PuroSoccer.com, which was born with great auguries that it would be a great editorial success; we noticed that we could not maintain economically both sites and we made the wrong decision: we decided to close ArtDaily.

Fortunately - and thanks to our readers and a sector of the same means - we soon acknowledged that PuroSoccer was not reaching our goals and meanwhile listening to voices claim the closing of ArtDaily.

This is how after 70 days (from 06 12 2004 to 08 19 2004), we reopened Artdaily publishing daily, we immediately recovered our readers and increased in a considerable way the number of our daily visits.

Vistis per week: 42 thousand visits (here, we are not referring to hits)

Newsletter subscriptions: 3,900

ArtDaily staff: 3 people working only part time and myself, I dedicate 12 hours daily.

Prizes, distinctions and recommendations: are, fortunately too many. Here, a small selection:

º Yahoo! select us twice as web site pick of the week.

º Britannica - Newsweek Internet Guide award us with 4 stars.

º Luckman's WWW Yellow Pages - published in 1999 by Barnes & Noble- award us with 5 stars.

º USA Today select us twice as Hot Site.

º BBC Recommended. Fantastic daily art newspaper with exhibition news and great links for stuff like digital art and animation.

º Yahoo gave us the No 1 during 2003 & 2004 in the art search. At the time there were 88 million sites registered. Today in 2005 we are number 16, but now, there are 488 million sites.
