Casas Grandes Polychrome Fish-Form Vessel. Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico, Chihuahua, Casas Grandes, (Paquime), ca. 1130 to 1450 CE. Rare form, pottery vessel in the form of what we believe is a fish, but could be some other form of zoomorphic creature. Pointed mouth, small fins to the sides and nubbin tail fin. Decorated in shades of red and black against an orange base. Estimate: $700 - $1,000.

Gran Cocle Ceramic Pedestal Bowl - Meander Band. Pre-Columbian, Panama, Gran Cocle culture, ca. 500 to 900 CE. A handsomely proportioned pedestal bowl of deep red-slipped earthenware, its shoulder encircled by a painted band of interlocking step-fret meanders rendered in cream and black - a geometric vocabulary as precise and self-assured as anything produced in the ancient Americas. Aztec Fired Clay Stamps - Spirals / Zoomorphs, ex-Lands Beyond. A pair of Aztec fired clay stamps, each presenting a densely carved rectangular face with a raised handle on the reverse, one decorated with a bold composition of paired concentric spirals separated by stepped geometric frets and bordered by a band of fine dentil ornament, the other incised with an intricate program of interlocking rectilinear and zoomorphic motifs within a similarly toothed border, both representative of the sellos used throughout Mesoamerica to apply pigment patterns to the body, textiles, or other surfaces in ritual and ceremonial contexts.
