Across three magical nights (Thursday 16 to Sunday 19 November 2023, from 16:30-23:00 each night), Lumiere, the UK’s light art biennial, transformed the beautiful medieval city of Durham into a giant art gallery. 14 years after Lumiere debuted in Durham, and more than one million visitors later, it is now the UK’s first light art biennial, a global event with artists from 15 different countries who exhibited their artwork completely free for the public.
