Huge Veracruz Terracotta Statue - Male Dignitary. Among the largest Veracruz sculptures we have seen, finely hand-built and modeled, a hollow-form terracotta statue of an imposing male dignitary, standing and wearing an elaborate loin cloth secured via a wide belt with a large circular buckle and an applied “beaded” border, with long textured lozenge-shaped appliques upon the ends as well as draping from the belt – each one stippled perhaps to represent animal pelt, and grand discoid elements just behind his hips with long panels draping to his feet.
