BOULDER.- Important Egyptian Limestone Relief - Goddess Hathor. Egypt, New Kingdom, Dynasty 18 to 20, ca. 1570 to 1069 BCE. One of the finest pieces offered in this auction! Very large and wonderfully rendered high relief sculpture of the Goddess Hathor. Hathor was often shown as a woman with the ears of a cow, and often a solar disc upon her head. An impressive neck amphora adorned in the traditional black-figure technique, the imposing form with an echinus mouth and tripartite handle, all supported by a torus foot, with hand painted scenes on both sides. BOULDER.- Roman Marble Relief - Nude Satyr, Panther, Maenad .Roman empire, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. Very fine marble relief, most likely a panel from a sarcophagus, depicting a standing Satyr, shown nude with good musculature, one hand reaching down toward a panther at his feet, a maenad with long flowing gown and section of nude left leg. Small lacquered and gilt wooden shrine of the Shaka Buddha (Siddharta) flanked by bodhisattvas (Monju Bosatsu and Fugen Bosatsu). Buddha is seated in the lotus position with his fight hand in Abhaya Mudra (gesture of fearlessness) and left hand in Vara Mudra (gesture of charity). Estimate $2,000 – $3,000.
