An appeal court in Nantes on December 15, 2015 cancelled the decision to remove the monument of John Paul II from a public square in Ploermel. A court in Rennes on April 30, 2015 had decided that the monument, which was installed following a decision of the municipal council in 2006, should be removed from its current location, since it contravened the provisions of the constitution and the 1905 law establishing the separation of church and state.
