Oklahoma City Museum of Art welcomes new Curator of Education
Truels most recently worked as the family programs coordinator at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK.- Tracy Truels has been named curator of education at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, it was announced by President and CEO E. Michael Whittington. "Tracy is exceptionally well-versed in current practices of engagement and learning. Her background, combined with hands-on experience at some of our most prestigious art museums, will help position the Oklahoma City Museum of Art to provide new and richer opportunities for our visitors," Whittington said. "We are fortunate to have Tracy join our team."

Truels most recently worked as the family programs coordinator at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. During her time there, Truels organized museum-wide Family Days and created weekly program offerings for families, including gallery and studio experiences. She also created educational resources for museum visitors and worked with Teaching Artists who taught programs at the museum and throughout the Houston community.

"I'm originally from Oklahoma City and am overjoyed to be back as part of the team at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art," Truels said. "What drives my work is watching visitors make personal connections with works of art and helping to create lasting experiences that become part of their lives. I look forward to creating a dialogue with our visitors, so that they can connect fully with the incredible exhibitions here at the Museum," said Truels.

Truels began her career in education as an elementary school teacher. She earned graduate degrees in creative writing and arts administration at Indiana University.
