NEW YORK, NY.- Sothebys
upcoming New York auction of Important Watches on 10 December 2013 will feature a collection of timepieces assembled by a single collector with a thoroughly modern and masculine aesthetic. The focused selection of 55 pieces comprises rare and limited series wristwatches, many featuring complications, by famed makers such as Audemars Piguet, Panerai and IWC, among others. The collection and full auction are on exhibition in Sothebys York Avenue galleries.

The present example is one of five in the collection featuring a tourbillons, demonstrating the collectors strong interest in complicated horological movements. Launched in 1999, the Tourbillon Souverain d'Egalité marked the first usage of a constant force remontoire in a wristwatch. The combination of both remontoire and tourbillon is a testimony to F. P. Journe's cutting-edge technical genius in the creation of complicated modern wristwatches firmly rooted in horological tradition.
