Georgia O'Keeffe Museum announces new book featuring quotes from the artist
The quotes selected for the volume were chosen by the Georgia O’Keefe Museum’s curators and researchers.
SANTA FE, NM.- The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum announced the publication of “Words|Works,” a book of quotes from Georgia O’Keeffe. Published by the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, the 48-page book combines O’Keeffe’s most poignant and memorable words with her iconic works of art in an intimate volume that proves O’Keeffe expressed herself beautifully in paint but was also an eloquent writer.

The quotes selected for the volume were chosen by the Georgia O’Keefe Museum’s curators and researchers, and also by those who knew the artist personally. Taken largely from interviews and published catalog statements, as well as the thousands of personal letters she wrote to friends and family, O’Keeffe’s words illuminate her innermost thoughts on life, art, the act of creating, and her deep appreciation for the natural world.

“Compiling “Words|Works” has been a special project of the Museum,” said Robert A. Kret, director of the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. “Perfect for holiday gift giving, this stocking stuffer-sized book is a unique volume that truly has something for everyone, from the art novice to fans of Georgia O’Keeffe alike.”

“Words|Works, Volume 1” (Georgia O’Keeffe Museum; September 2013; U.S. $9.95/Can. $9.95; ISBN 978-0-9793498-7-4) is the first volume in what will become a series of books bringing together Georgia O’Keefe’s words with her iconic images. Volume 1 will be available in the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Store, located inside the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, and on the Store’s website, beginning September 30, 2013. Members of the Museum receive a 15% discount off the purchase price.
