Biennale of Sydney announces Julian Knights as new Board Director
Julian has extensive experience with leading arts organisations as Chair of the Major Performing Arts Panel of the Australia Council.
SYDNEY.- ‘We are pleased to announce Julian Knights as a Board Director of the Biennale of Sydney,’ said Chairman Luca Belgiorno-Nettis. ‘Julian has extensive experience with leading arts organisations as Chair of the Major Performing Arts Panel of the Australia Council and former Chairman of the Sydney Dance Company. We are delighted to welcome him to the Board.’

Julian Knights said: ‘I am very pleased to be joining the Board of the Biennale of Sydney. The Biennale is a landmark event in the arts landscape in Australia and I am very excited to be joining the team as it builds on this success. I look forward to working with my fellow Board Directors and Chief Executive Officer, Marah Braye, to ensure its continued success.’

Julian Knights has more than 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry, including senior roles in investment banking and funds management. He is a Founding Director of leading Private Equity firm Ironbridge Capital and a Director of Pacific Road Capital Management, a specialist global mining fund. He served on the Council of AVCAL (Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association) for four terms and was elected Chairman in 2008.

For many years, Julian has been a patron of a number of arts organisations and involved in the stewardship of key Australian performing arts companies. He served on the Board of Sydney Dance Company (2006–13) and as Chairman for five years (2007–13). In May 2013, he was appointed Chair of the Major Performing Arts Panel of the Australia Council.

Julian holds Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Law degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Higher Diploma in Company Law from the same institution.
