The first part of Arte Primitivos June 18th auction features a rare selection of Egyptian lithics and artifacts from ancient Egypt deaccessioned from The Heckscher Museum of Art, Long Island, NY., ex. Robert Rustafjaell collection, acquired prior to 1909. Followed by numerous lots of fine Oceanographic and tribal art including a fine 19th century Bakota Reliquary or ngulu, with 1930s Paris provenance. Also a very Important Mayan Royal Lidded Cache Vessel dating to the Pre-Classic period, ca. 250-450 A.D.., ex. Christies, Paris, April 14, 2004, (sale 5088), lot #418. ex. Al Stendahl collection, 1970s will be spotlighted in this sale.
Beginning at Lot 113, youll find a great Maori Nephrite Tiki pendant and the beginning of several Hawaiian and South Seas artifacts. The variety of ancient art continues with a quality selection of Greek, Roman, pre-Columbian and Egyptian antiquities.
