COLUMBIA, SC.- The Columbia Museum of Art announces the appointment of Kerry Kuhlkin-Hornsby as director of education. She was previously the Education Programs and Volunteer Manager at the Museum and prior to that role, she was a Museum educator at Museum of York County and a Kindergarten teacher at St. Joseph School.

Kuhlkin-Hornsby brings 20 years of education and art experience and has taught over 100 art classes and workshops. She recently curated a student photography exhibition, which was selected for display in United States Senator Lindsey Graham’s offices in Washington, DC. By partnering with organizations like Columbia Green and Palmetto Conservation Foundation, she also revamped the Education Gallery to be a fun and interactive space for children.

Kuhlkin-Hornsby planned, organized and implemented new programs for toddlers through adults including the popular series Wee Wednesdays, Passport to Art, Art Express, Winter Workshops and a First Friday Book Club. She also manages and trains over 75 Museum Docent Corps members and leads the education staff in developing nearly 30 expanded summer camp programs every year.

“Kerry has been a part of the Museum family for a long time. She has developed many innovative and popular education programs and we are excited to have her at the helm of the education department,” Joelle Ryan-Cook, deputy director and director of external affairs, said.
