"USAnatomy" by Steven Klein to Open at MuBE, Brazilian Museum of Sculpture
Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt.

SAO PAULO.- Carlos Jereissati Filho, CEO of IGUATEMI, announced the fifth edition of the IGUATEMI Photo Series with Steven Klein’s exhibition “USAnatomy”, showcasing 60 works by the contemporary fashion photographer at MuBE (Brazilian Museum of Sculpture, São Paulo.) The exhibition will offer a rare opportunity for visitors to witness the work of the celebrated American photographer. It will launch on August 10th with a cocktail celebration and will be open to the public from August 11th until August 28th.

Curated by renowned fashion producer Chico Lowndes, the exhibit will feature 30 large-scale works and 30 original Polaroid shots culled from Klein’s oeuvre. On display will be images of Madonna, Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie and Justin Timberlake, amongst others. In their typically transgressive, erotic and lyrical nature, the pictures subvert conventional notions of contemporary fashion photography and celebrity portraiture. Klein’s work depicts sexually charged, conceptual imagery, evoking the dark underbelly of pop culture. Each work in the show offers a glimpse of the artist’s intensely provocative vision, which has radically challenged the blurred boundaries between art and fashion.

Steven Klein is one of the world’s most influential fashion photographers. A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design and a favorite of Vogue’s Anna Wintour, Klein jumped to stardom by shooting celebrities like Natalie Portman, the Rolling Stones, Elton John, Prince, Tom Ford, Naomi Campbell, as well as Brazilian models like Izabel Goulart, Alessandra Ambrósio and Jesus Luz. His clever images permeate the pages of the world’s most acclaimed fashion magazines, managing to strike a perfect balance between transgression and commerce. In addition to his editorial work, he has created fashion campaigns for Clavin Klein, Dolce & Gabanna, Alexander McQueen and Nike, and recently directed a video clip for Lady Gaga’s single “Alejandro”.

The Iguatemi Photo Series is a cultural initiative, sponsored by Iguatemi, São Paulo, that aims to present the public with photography that goes beyond journalistic witnessing, beyond the iconographic register of classic photography, and beyond its value as a medium to show its importance as a contemporary cultural expression. It allows people a chance to become acquainted with, and have a deeper understanding of, the trends in contemporary photography, as well as providing a platform for individuals to create a personal dialogue with the medium. Iguatemi Photo Series at MuBE has previously sponsored the critically acclaimed exhibitions A Message for you by Guy Bourdin, Heaven and Hell – Beauties and Disasters by David LaChapelle and Chop off their heads by John Rankin.

Iguatemi currently manages thirteen strategically placed shopping centers in Brazil, located in Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Campinas, Sorocaba, São Carlos, Florianópolis, Porto Alegre, Caxias do Sul and its flagship in São Paulo – which attracts over 1.6 million visitors a month and includes Brazil’s largest number of luxury stores, including Burberry, Missoni, Gucci, Christian Louboutin, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Ermenegildo Zegna, Bulgari, Salvatore Ferragamo, and many more.
