Law Enforcement Museum in DC Gets Ground Zero Beam
WASHINGTON (AP).- The National Law Enforcement Museum slated to open in Washington has acquired a structural beam from the World Trade Center site in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The museum group announced Thursday that the 5-foot beam will help the museum illustrate the events from the attacks. The 72 law enforcement officers who died that day will be honored at the museum.

The museum has several other items from Sept. 11, including a tool box, an air tank, an American flag and a piece of one of the airplanes that struck the World Trade Center towers.

The museum was authorized by Congress in 2000. It's slated to open in late 2013 at Washington's Judiciary Square.
