It is now widely recognised that The Classic Cellar from a Great American Collector is one of the greatest wine collections ever assembled, with an astonishing depth of wines from the best Châteaux across many vintages and formats. On 3 October, during Sothebys Hong Kong Autumn Sales 2010, Sothebys
will offer the sixth sale of wine from this phenomenal collection at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The previous five sales have already taken in over HK$200 million (US$26 million), generating enormous excitement among wine collectors which is set to continue with the sixth offering from an already astonishing collection.
The upcoming sale has a particular strength in Château Pétrus, one of the worlds most sought after wines, where the small size of the estate makes this wine particularly rare. Over 400 bottles across many different formats will be offered, making this the most important Pétrus collection offered at auction, which includes an impressive 18 cases of the 1995 vintage.
Serena Sutcliffe MW, Worldwide Head of Wine at Sothebys said, The previous auction offerings from this cellar have been fiercely fought over by collectors from around the world and I am sure that the enthusiasm will continue for the wines in this sale. The last decades in Bordeaux have seen a striving for ultimate quality that is truly impressive, involving investment, intelligence and inspiration. The result is magnificent, consistent wines that give optimum pleasure. The wines from this outstanding collection were acquired at the outset of their lives and have been impeccably stored they are the flawless diamonds of our business. We bring them to you in complete confidence that they are perfect examples of Bordeauxs Best.
