Rosamund Felsen Gallery Presents Large-Scale Exhibition by Ann Preston

SANTA MONICA, CA.- Rosamund Felsen Gallery presents Ann Preston's large-scale exhibition, Four Forms. Preston's exhibition comprises an ambitious undertaking of mesmerizing scope, bringing together her unfathomable energy and imagination.

After a number of years concentrating on large-scale, high profile public art projects, Ann Preston returns to the gallery with a multi-faceted exhibition of intense ambition and skillful precision. The exhibition primarily revolves around two massive and complex sculptures, and includes other sculptures, as well as paintings and drawings and large-scale photographs by Grant Mudford of her commission for the Performing Arts Center, University of Utah, Logan.

Preston's large alluring sculptures are made of intricately fabricated steel, with cast stainless steel reliefs. Based on a finely worked-out logic of the golden ratio, Preston manipulates the foundation of that logic with sensuously sculpted abstract panels. Preston combines a repeating seductive curvilinear form, softening the hard angularity of the steel structures. Her work “lures you in, speaking through objects of guilty pleasures, of the allure of beauty and its manipulative power,” (Benjamin Weissman, Artforum.) Throughout the entire exhibition, Preston moves through complex processes of multiplying, folding and sequentially altering scale in a beguiling combination of subtlety and virtuosity.
