San Diego's Beyond the Border International Contemporary Art Fair Opens in September

SAN DIEGO, CA.- San Diego’s first Beyond the Border International Contemporary Art Fair (BTB ICAF), scheduled for September 2-4, 2009. The 3-day contemporary art fair will be held at The Grand Del Mar, San Diego's newest luxury resort in Coastal North San Diego County. The event will showcase over $4 million in artwork by prominent national and international galleries coupled with sponsors such as Maserati, Modern Luxury Media, Qualcomm, Christie’s, The American Institute of Wine and Food, The California Bipolar Foundation, and many others. Organizers anticipate over 3,000 qualified new and established collectors over the three days. The public is invited to attend the event, which marks the first time these national and international galleries with investment-grade art will be presented in San Diego.

BTB-Art is producing the art fair. BTB-Art is a strategic business-consulting firm comprised of leading professionals in the areas of art, marketing, architecture and development. BTB-Art is dedicated to establishing San Diego as the leading contemporary art fair destination on the West Coast. Organizers have partnered with San Diego's leading cultural organizations, including The San Diego Museum of Art, The Stuart Collection UCSD, UCSD Department of Visual Arts, The New Children's Museum and The Lux Art Institute.

The California Bipolar Foundation (CBF), a local non-profit organization, is a Title Sponsor of the art fair and is hosting a VIP dinner Friday, Sept. 4. Guest speaker Dr. Kay Redfield Jamison, an author and professor of psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, will speak on "The World of the Artistic Temperament." Other non-profit partners include The San Diego Art Prize, which is a cash prize with exhibition opportunities. Now in its third year, the Prize spotlights established and emerging artists in San Diego whose outstanding achievements in the field of visual arts merit recognition.

The Mediterranean-style Grand Del Mar was named one of the top new resorts and spas in the Conde Nast Traveler magazine's annual Hot List in 2008 and listed in the 2009 Gold List as one of the world's best places to stay.
