TYLER, TX.- Chinoiserie is the theme as the
Tyler Museum of Art sets the table for the 2009 La Table des Artistes Spring Fundraiser, beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, April 24.
Seating is limited for the black-tie-optional event, so advance reservations are required. For ticket information, call TMA Membership Coordinator C.B. Henderson at (903) 595-1001, ext. 217.
The goal of the evening is to showcase different art forms while enjoying a special dinner in the Bell Gallery to raise money for the exhibitions and programs of the Museum, event coordinator Betty Summers said. In 2008, we highlighted silver as we explored the new vision of La Table des Artistes for our annual event. This year we are presenting Chinoiserie, which is a stylization in decorative arts reflecting Chinese qualities or motifs.
Highlights of the evening include a cocktail reception on the Museum lawn with a performance of a traditional Chinese Lion Dance, followed by a seated-four-course dinner catered by George of Dallas set among Chinese screens and ornamentation, tables adorned with vintage lacquerware, and other treasures of the Far East in keeping with the Chinoiserie theme. Capping off the event is the Champagne Auction featuring an array of exotic items available for bidding, including original artwork, vacation packages, lavish private parties, jewelry and decorative art pieces. Valet parking will be available.
The La Table des Artistes setting provides a rare, memorable opportunity to experience an elegant dinner in the Museum gallery while making an invaluable contribution to the TMA, Mrs. Summers said. Were confident all of our friends and patrons will be impressed with what we have in store for them on April 24.
