Artexpo New York Announces 30th Anniversary Hall of Fame Inductees
NEW YORK, NY.- In recognition of Artexpo New York’s 30th anniversary, show organizers today announced the names of a selection of its art icons to be inducted into a new Hall of Fame.

Since debuting in 1978, Artexpo New York has helped launch the careers of some of the finest American artists of the 20th Century. Today, some of those art greats were singled out to be honored for their involvement in the world’s largest fine and popular art fair. The list includes artists, galleries and publishers that have left their mark on the show and the American art scene. The inductees are: Andy Warhol, James Rizzi, Erte, Ron English, Joel & Renee Meisner, Dr. Ron Parker, Bruce McGaw, Nancy McGaw, Agudelo-Botero Orlando, Christine Rosamond, Charles Fazzino, George Rodrigue, Crash, Michael Delacroix, RC Gorman, Martin Blinder, Salvador Dali, Chuck Jones, Marilyn Goldberg, Leonor Fini, Max Papart, Marvin Rosenbaum, Bill Mack, Eyvind Earle, Nan Miller, Sylvia Chait, Victor Vasarely, Jacques Soussana, Jack & Carolyn Solomon.

Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actress and artist Jane Seymour will emcee the opening night induction ceremony at 7pm on Thursday, February 28 at Marquee Night Club. The Hall of Fame, including inductees’ bios and examples of their work, will then be displayed on the floor of the Javits Convention Center during Artexpo New York.

“I congratulate the inductees to Artexpo New York’s Hall of Fame, not only for their role in the show’s successful 30-year history, but also for their influence on American art,” said Artexpo New York Vice President Eric Smith. “By taking part in Artexpo New York, these artists have gained greater global recognition and have gone on to leave an indelible mark on the art world.”

The Hall of Fame selection committee included long-time members of the art world Dorothea Kesser, Michel Roux and Roberto Mitrotti, who share a wealth of art experience across different media. Kesser is the co-founder and director of the Chelsea Art Museum, which presents 20th and 21st Century art. Mitrotti is an artist and filmmaker, and founder of RPM Media, a digital media company that produces cultural TV programming. Roux helped launch the careers of hundreds of artists – including many who made their mark at Artexpo – through his advertising campaign for Absolut vodka, based on art.

More than 50,000 visitors, including trade buyers and consumer art enthusiasts, are expected to attend Artexpo New York, where they can purchase both traditional and cutting-edge works ranging from original paintings and sculptures to limited-edition lithographs, giclees, animation art, photography and more. The 2008 show will also have an expanded selection of international art available, showcasing the latest trends in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

Tickets for Artexpo New York are available the day of the show at the Javits Convention Center box office or at www.artexpos.com. The show is open on February 28 and 29 from 10am to 6pm to trade only, and then to the public on March 1 from 10am-6pm, March 2 from 11am-6pm, and March 3 from 10am-2pm. Adult tickets cost $15 a day; $5 for seniors and students. Entry for children under 12 is free.
