Promotional poster designed by Morteza Momayez, 1988.
TEHRAN, IRAN.-Morteza Momayez, father of Iran’s graphic arts, died last night. He was considered a pioneer figure of Iranian graphic arts. He was born in 1936 in Tehran. He was teacher at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Tehran University since 1969. Since 1975 he was an AGI member. He received the special Icograda Life Time Achievements Award and also had a large retrospective at the Museum of Contemporary Art featuring his posters, book and magazine covers, logos and also paintings, photographs and installations.

Almost half a century of relentless efforts in education, founding the society of Graphic Designers, and introducing new perspectives in Iranian graphic design are but a few of the services he has rendered to the art community and have secured a high place and international recognition for him.
