The James Museum welcomes Debbie Sokolov as first Director of Development
Sokolov’s donor-centered and team-building approach have helped small and large nonprofits raise millions of dollars.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL.- Debbie Sokolov is joining the team at The James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art as Director of Development. Sokolov will play an integral part in advancing the James Museum by participating in strategic planning, developing long-term sustainability strategies and launching those opportunities.

“We are delighted to welcome Debbie to the museum,” said Laura Hine, executive director of the James Museum. “The museum is entering an exciting period of planning for growth and long-term sustainment. Her 20 years of experience in fundraising regionally combined with her extensive background in nonprofit administration, make Debbie just the right person to round out our team.”

Sokolov’s donor-centered and team-building approach have helped small and large nonprofits raise millions of dollars. In her most recent role, Sokolov served as Director of Development for the St. Petersburg Free Clinic. During her tenure there, she led a successful $4.5 million capital campaign, secured over $2 million in endowments, and obtained several transformational gifts for innovative programs from dedicated individuals, private foundations and corporations. Sokolov is a Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) and holds a master’s degree in Nonprofit Administration.

“I am inspired by the James Museum’s efforts to reach our community with exciting exhibitions and thoughtful programming,” noted Sokolov. “I’m proud that St. Petersburg is home to this beautiful establishment which houses such a breathtaking collection of western art. I look forward to working with the Board of Directors, museum members, and funders and being involved in the vibrant St. Petersburg art scene.”

Sokolov will begin her new role at the James Museum on January 13.
