Hindman to offer significant works in Fall Modern Design Sale

H 35 1/2 x W 21 x D 20 inches Property from the Estate of Barney A. Ebsworth, Seattle, Washington Provenance: Acquired directly from the artist, New Hope, Pennsylvania. The piece will include a copy of the original order card provided by Nakashima Woodworkers. Estimate: $20,000.00 - $30,000.00.



CHICAGO, IL.- Hindman’s The November 12 Modern Design auction will include highlights from many of the 20th century’s most notable designers and manufacturers, including an important George Nakashima Frenchman’s Cove II dining table and a set of eight Conoid chairs in rosewood from the estate of Barney A. Ebsworth. Also included will be an important La Table-Berceau, Première Version by Diego Giacometti. The sale will also feature a rare number of studio works from ceramicists Ruth Duckworth and Peter Voulkos, along with two works from the Venetian Series by Dale Chihuly and Lino Tagliapietra. In addition to nearly 100 lots of collectible Scandinavian design and highlights from America and Italy, the auction will offer key lighting selections from Tiffany Studios.

"Serving as a bookend to Hindman’s premier Fall programing – our Modern Design auction is definitely one to keep an eye on. The sale will feature some of America’s most celebrated Studio Craft Movement artists working in wood, ceramics and glass as well as iconic designs and masterworks from Europe and beyond.”

The sale will be conducted in the Chicago saleroom at 10am CT and will be available for preview November 7 - November 11.
