Top 5 Medical Practices To Cure Erectile Dysfunction Permanently

Erectile Dysfunction is a condition when a man does not have a proper erection and is not able to maintain an erection which is rigid enough to have sexual intercourse.

Here 5 different strategies to cure erectile dysfunction have been discussed.

1. Surgical Procedures
This is generally suggested by your doctor if other forms of therapy have been unsuccessful. It uses surgical procedures to cure erectile dysfunction.

Surgery is done to achieve the following-

• Implant a prosthetic device which will cause an erection

• Surgery of the arteries in the penis which will increase the flow of blood in the penis after surgery and therefore cause an erection

• The veins in the penis are blocked off so that blood cannot leave the penis which would help in an erection.

In the past penile implants i.e. the use of prosthetic devices was the only major surgical procedure to cure erectile dysfunction. But today it is the last resort technique that is adopted by doctors. The use of non-surgical procedures is considered to be better because they have no side effects.

There are two types of implants used-

• Semi-rigid or malleable implant
Two cylinders are inserted into the penis to achieve an erection.

Advantages of this surgery are it is a simple surgery, has few side effects, it is least expensive and has a high rate of success.

Disadvantages o this surgery is it gives a cosmetic appearance to the penis, complete destruction of natural erection as the implants are implanted permanently.

• Inflatable implant
The inflatable implant has a pump placed inside the scrotum. When you want to have an erection the scrotum is squeezed to inflate the cylinders and thus have an erection. The squeezing is a manual process and is done by hand.

Advantages include concealment, controlled erection, have a more natural appearance. Disadvantages include the chance of infection, highly expensive.
