Tracey Emin Work to Be Auctioned during Frieze in Aid of Margates Turner Contemporary
The money raised will help fund the new Turner Contemporary gallery in Margate.
LONDON.- An edition of Tracey Emin’s striking pink neon work I Never Stopped Loving You will be auctioned for Turner Contemporary at Phillips de Pury in London on Wednesday 13 October 2010.

The money raised will help fund the new Turner Contemporary gallery in Margate. Designed by award-winning architect David Chipperfield and opening in spring 2011, it will be the largest art gallery in the south-east of England and serve as a catalyst for the regeneration of this historic sea-side town.

Tracey Emin, one of Margate’s most famous residents and a great supporter of Turner Contemporary, said: “It’s a declaration of love for Margate from me, but also what I want in the summer – why go to Brighton for a dirty weekend – come to Margate. I want people to come off the train, I want them to walk along the seafront, I want them to hold hands and to have a snog and say ‘I never stopped loving you.”

Victoria Pomery, Director of Turner Contemporary, said: “We are very proud of this edition of the commission by Tracey Emin, which voices her own affection for Margate and connects perfectly with the town’s seaside heritage. The money raised will go towards the capital cost of the new gallery. Turner Contemporary would like to thank Tracey Emin for so generously donating this artwork for auction.”

Turner Contemporary Art Trust was set up to support organisations to develop the visual arts in Kent and is supporting the building of the new gallery.
