Unique art exhibition reflecting upon Brazil World Cup 2014 on view in Sydney
Artists and designers from various nationalities and different walks of life, make their very own goal by creating owe-inspiring and provocative works of art commissioned specially for the exhibition.

SYDNEY.- Joining the momentum of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, 2 levels exhibitions in association with The Rocks Pop-Up Projects present the exhibition The Art of Football: The Beauty, The Social, The Political. The exhibition encompasses the disparate worlds of art and football. It exemplifies the beauty, the political and the social aspects of the world of soccer. While some artists depict the players as heroes and important role models, others have chosen to explore the ways in which the sport connects and communicates with its supporters through the media and the economic impact.

Presented in one of the most exciting venues in Sydney - Shop 2.05 The Rocks, adjoined to the Museum of Contemporary Art, the exhibition is curated by Clay De Paula, cultural producer, international curator and art collector of various projects in Australia, Brazil, USA and China; and art writer Helen Symons. The initiative joins the opportunity given by 2014 World Cup in Brazil to artists reflects on notions of football. Through adding meaning to the event using compelling colourful images, the artists discuss the beauty behind such a glorious sport event, yet more controversial than ever given Brazil’s economic prosperity and political upheavals.

Artists and designers from various nationalities and different walks of life, make their very own goal by creating owe-inspiring and provocative works of art commissioned specially for the exhibition. The project highlights the ways in which this powerfully influential sport has the capacity to unite, and inspire, both communities and the individual on a massive scale through the media industry. It also provides a lively forum for the exhibiting artists to explore themes related to the World Cup in Brazil; and the diverse ways in which large media led events might contribute to, or otherwise, impact upon societies both locally and internationally.

The absolute stunning result of the art-football crossover gives an opportunity to the audience to experience the excitement and dynamics that only art can provide.

Presented in an array of media such as painting, sculpture, sight-specific sculptural installation, photography, video, graffiti, show of light and more, the project offers a multitude of opportunities to the viewer to reflect and enjoy the best of both worlds.

The Art of Football: The Beauty, The Social, The Political offers various workshops by local artists working with ceramics, graffiti and 3D Printing.
