Launching of Singapore Art Fair 2014: The ME.NA.SA region honored at the heart of Asia
Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Center.
SINGAPORE.- From the 27th to the 30th of November 2014, the Singapore Art Fair (ME.NA.SA. ART) will be held at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Center. In its first edition, this modern and contemporary art fair, dedicated to the art of the ME.NA.SA region (Middle East, North Africa & South East Asia) will accommodate about one hundred international galleries.

Singapore Art Fair is expected to become one of the iconic artistic events held in Asia. It will be the place where art lovers can annually meet in November to reinforce Singapore’s role as the newest cultural destination, at the heart of Asia.

In order to further promote internationally art produced in the ME.NA.SA region, the organizers of the Beirut Art Fair expanded the scope of their fair in Singapore. As a result, in November 2014, the Singapore Art Fair (ME.NA.SA.ART) will highlight the Middle Eastern artistic creations, in particular those from Lebanon. A broad cultural program, based on the exchanges between the ME.NA.SA countries will take place during the event. This region of contrasting cultures, which extends from Morocco to Indonesia, currently presents established and emerging artistic talents in the art market.

The creative energy and the presence of increasingly relevant ME.NA.SA artists within the world scene can be noticed nowadays, not only through the results of auctions and sales, but also through their numerous exhibitions in museums, private foundations, and several international biennials for contemporary art.

20 solo exhibitions dedicated to the young artists of the Middle East and South-East Asia which are planned to happen during the Singapore Art Fair will be stamped with ME.NA.SA. One pavilion for the middle-eastern creations and Lebanon, curated by Catherine David, completes the panorama.

« We base ourselves on the premise that the Arab world has increasingly turned itself towards Asia and vice- versa. It was within this context that we created in 2013 the South East Asia Pavilion at the Beirut Art Fair and that we are launching in 2014 the Singapore Art Fair », explains Laure d’Hauteville, director and founder of the Singapore Art Fair and Beirut Art Fair, « with this new showcase in Asia we wish to develop the connections between these two regions and promote their cultural exchanges ».

Singapore Art Fair is the first fair in Asia dedicated to the artists of the ME.NA.SA region. This new event will allow them to strengthen their impact on the global market and become major players on the international art scene.

In response to the expectations of numerous Asian collectors interested in the ME.NA.SA region’s art, Singapore Art Fair aims to infuse the city of Singapore with a wide cultural craze for these artists.

This new art encounter which will take place in Singapore is expected to become an iconic showcase in Asia for the work of well-known or emerging artists of the ME.NA.SA region.
