NEW YORK, NY.- Howard Greenberg Gallery has announced that the Gallery will be the exclusive representative for the estates of the photographers Berenice Abbott and Arnold Newman.

Until now, the Berenice Abbott estate was handled by Commerce Graphics and the Arnold Newman Estate was handled by KG Fine Arts, a partnership between Commerce Graphics and Howard Greenberg Gallery. Ronald Kurtz, founder of Commerce Graphics, has announced his retirement and will close Commerce Graphics this month.

After acquiring the Berenice Abbott estate with Greenberg’s guidance in 1985, Kurtz established Commerce Graphics to represent Abbott's photographs. A few years later, Kurtz began representing Arnold Newman.

“Ron was instrumental in nurturing and promoting the careers of Berenice Abbott and Arnold Newman,” said Howard Greenberg. “It was an enormous pleasure to work with Ron.

“There is no one that I would trust more than Howard with the task of preserving and enhancing the legacy of these two artists that are among the greatest in the history of photography,” noted Kurtz. “The opportunity to know and work with Berenice Abbott and Arnold Newman and their art has enriched my life.”

Steidl, the renowned German photography book publisher, has published work by both artists and is continuing with a series of books on various aspects of Abbott's career to be published in the fall of 2013.
