DALLAS, TX.- Dallas Contemporary announces the addition of Pedro Alonzo & Lilia Kudelia as new Adjunct Curators. Pedro Alonzo is a Mexican-American freelance curator living in Boston. Lilia Kudelia is an independent curator and writer with interests in new media, technology, and Ukranian contemporary art.

Adjunct curators enhance the institution’s mission of presenting regional, national and international projects by artists. In their new positions, Alonzo and Kudelia will expand the dialogue and exchange between artists and contemporary culture.

“It is important to keep an international view of the world, and Pedro and Lilia will play an important role in our curatorial vision for the future, “ said Dallas Contemporary’s director, Peter Doroshenko. “Dallas Contemporary will continue to organize and commission new work by the best international artists and create bespoke platforms for regional artists to exhibit globally.”

PEDRO ALONZO:
Alonzo is based in Boston, Massachusetts and has organized numerous exhibitions of contemporary art in Mexico, the United Kingdom and the United States. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the Instituto Technologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Mexico. Kudelia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Studies and Public Relations from National University, ‘Kyiv-Mohyla Academy’ in Ukraine. She was a visiting scholar at the University of Toronto’s Centre for European, Russian, and Eastern Studies, where she researched the artwork of Ukranian-Canadian painter, William Kurelek. As Chair of External Relations at Art Arsenal, she supervised the installation and development of Art-Kyiv Contemporary 2011 and Independent: Ukranian Art 1991-2011.

Kudelia is also a contributing writer to Art Ukraine Magazine, where she was editor of “ArtGlobus,” a section on international arts news. She has spoken at several conferences on art and science, and translated interpretive materials for museums and publications. A native Russian and Ukranian speaker, Kudelia also speaks English, German and Polish.

“I already feel a deep connection to Dallas Contemporary because of my previous work with Mystetskyi Arsenal in Ukraine – a new space for contemporary art located in the historic part of Kyiv,” says Lilia Kudela. “Both institutions are in the most active phase of their development, with space to accelerate and grow. I believe that with Dallas Contemporary’s dynamic team and visionary director, we can continue to work with the best artists.”
